Things to do in Southeast PA, April 2024

Written by Mercedes Roth | Apr 5, 2024 2:17:40 PM

Hello everyone! My name is Mercedes and I am an Agency Assistant at Blue Marsh. My family and I love to try new places to eat, drink, or just hang out. Whether that new place is 15 mins away or 2 hours, you can always catch us out and about - and I want to share what's on our calendar of "things to do" each month!

This first post is going to be highlighting the fun things to do in the area for the month of April 2024.
1. First things first, bowling. Now hear me out! I have been in bowling leagues since I was 9 and it is a very big thing in my family. The amount of bowling birthday parties I’ve been to is kind of embarrassing. Once a month, my stepdad, uncle, family friend and I have started to go to random bowling alleys to practice. The next one we have planned is  Dutch 222, in Ephrata. I haven’t bowled at Dutch 222 since I was in high school, bowling in tournaments for Muhlenberg High School (Go Muhls!), so I’m very excited. If you are interested in bowling there sometime soon, try out Dutch 222 and get your bowl on.
2. Next, LANCASTER COUNTY ALE TRAIL. At the beginning of this year I went to Twisted Bine Beer Co in Lancaster County to get a passport to start my Lancaster County Ale Trail journey. I’ve been to 5 breweries since then but have many more to go.
A few of the breweries I’m most excited to go to in the month of April are: Columbia Kettle Works, Rural City Brew Co, Moo-Duck Brewery, & Starview Brews. Unfortunately there are no more passports available, but that shouldn’t stop you from checking out these great breweries. All of these breweries are walk-in friendly, no need for reservations.

3. Next, I’m spotlighting a wonderful workout studio in Hamburg that I’ve gone to many times and encourage others to go as well. On Monday, April 22nd, AKA Earth day, The Vibe: Connect & Thrive will be hosting a community clean up. All you have to do is show up at the studio at 5:30 pm and maybe bring some gloves. I have a lot of family who live in Hamburg and my mom grew up in Hamburg, so it is a town I spend a lot of time in. Speaking of family, another reason I love this studio so much is because my cousin Erica is the owner! She is very empowering and energetic about exercise, meditation, and just being the best you. If you are interested in any of her events or exercise classes follow them on Facebook here.

4. Another one of my favorite places (maybe even my favorite!) is The Bar Cart. This is a local bar and bottle shop in West Reading with the best staff and owners ever! And their drinks ain't too bad either :) The last Thursday of every month they have bingo and it is always a fun time. Bingo starts at approximately 6:35 pm and again no reservation needed. The owner Kasie is usually the one calling the numbers for bingo, but stop in there one Thursday night and it may just be Drag Bingo, which is always a fun time! I always go to bingo, so see you there!

5. Lastly, The West Reading Craft Pretzel & Beer Fest is on Saturday, April 27th from 11-5. This is a ticketed event and tickets can be purchased here. VIP is only $10 more than the general admission, so why not? I have never been to the pretzel and beer fest before but if there is some sort of event in West Reading, I’m usually there!

What's on your calendar this month?

I'd love to hear!

Stay tuned for the next blog post from me letting you know what I’ll be doing in the month of May! See you then!
